It's time for us to Depart

Hey guys,
Welcome back!!!
I know that I left you guys with a post that made even me cry and for that I would like to say sorry. This blog is going to be a little different than the others. The reason for this is because this will be my last blog post for the semester.  I know right! I can't believe that the semester is already coming to a close. Let's try our best not to dwell on the negatives. Lets make this last blog count.

As the students count down the amount of days that we have left in school, so does the professors. Like us, they are eager to get out of the classroom and into the real world and as far away from homework, quizzes and exams as possible. Yep, I have finally accepted the facts that my professors have a life outside of the classroom.

Before we can move forward, we have to look back on everything that has happened throughout the semester. Being in this Marketing class has taught me a lot throughout the semester. I remember writing my very first blog post on what I thought was the meaning of Marketing. When I first thought of the term Marketing, the only thing I could associate it with was Wall Street. Now that I am leaving this class I can give you a true definition. "Wanting to communicate and exchange benefits to the consumers, companies use different marketing strategies to help satisfy their needs and wants." Rodger Kerin.

Another thing that I have taken from this class was the 7 P's of Marketing. Let me explain. When I first started this class, I was taught that there are 4 P's of marketing mixPRICE PLACE PRODUCT and PROMOTION.. It was while I was working on these blogs that I realized that there is so much  more to marketing.

You have PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT, PROCESS and PEOPLE,

A third point that I would like to review after taking this course was the Hierarchy of Needs.

http://cdn-1.simplypsychology.org/maslow-needs.jpg

This was something that was brought up in previous business courses, but never really dwelled upon. Throughout this class I have had the opportunity to correlate these different steps with my life. Each and every step on this motivation chart has helped me throughout my college career already. I have found that being able to have great self esteem will help you in the long run, especially when it comes to reaching self-actualization.

At the end of the day one thing that I know for certain is that when it comes to marketing, it starts and ends with consumers. It's all about doing your best as a company to satisfy their wants and needs. I was able to attempt this through  Practice Marketing and the team in which I worked.  While working in the team I found that there might be cases where some customers like your product, while others don't.When this happens, we had to try our best to create a product that will satisfy the need of ALL our customers.

For the last couple of days in the semester our professor brought in guest speakers (extra credit!!)  Before they spoke I was nervous about what the future holds and trying to figure things out.

However, one thing that I took away from both speakers was that I don't have to have my entire life figured out right now, after all I am just a junior in college.
From this class, I have taken away some marketing knowledge especially when it comes to going into the professional worldThis summer I got accepted to Florida State Undergrad Law Program and I am very excited to attend. This program will help me when it comes to determining whether or not law is something that I would like to do in the future.
Marketing helped in this process because it showed me different ways in which I can market myself; by making my resume sound more appealing to different jobs etc.

Though I kind of know what I want to do with my life, it was good to hear people who have been through this say that its ok not to know.

Are you FAST or FURIOUS?

Hey everyone!!!

First before we get started, I just wanted to say HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY to myself. Yep, you all heard it here first,I am finally 21.  I am now allowed to live! (sarcasm). Today is just like any other day, hence the reason I am here doing this blog post lol. So since none of you out there care about that, lets get started.

Did anyone see the new Fast and Furious Movie?!!! It was really good and I have already watched it 3 times. I know its a little obsessive, but what the heck.
The question that I have been asked, multiple times I might add, is "Why do you watch these movies?" How do I respond to people, "Um..have you seen the men who are in these movies? Oh and the movies are good too, but have you seen the actors? CALIENTE!!!

Since I'm on the topic of hot actors, one that we can focus on today would be Paul Walker. If you guys haven't already heard, Paul Walker past away during the filming of this movie and at the end of the movie there is a tribute to him (spoiler alert!).
 Check out this video.
R.I.P. to Paul Walker. You are and will forever be missed.
When I watched this video I literally cried.
Now that I gave you guys something to cry about lets make you smile a little. Check out this video. Another must watch.
 I love these two!!

Okay, so in today's blog I will be talking about movies. Not only that, but the ways in which movies play on the emotions of the viewers and create a bond between the actors and those who watch it. Whether its commercials, or movies in general, producers and managers have to think about their Target Markets.
Target Market is defined as:

We can see this evident in the two movie trailers that can be located at the top .This can also be demonstrated within a company was when they used celebrities to promote their products.
Want an example? Check out Macy's commercial.

In this commercial, we see Macy as a company that caters to the needs of multiple consumers. One factor that makes Macy the company it is today, is that it is a company that is nationwide. With reasonable rates, and awesome customer service (Yes I know their customer service is awesome, I am after all a valued customer) Macy is the place to be!
**Sorry that this weeks blog isn't as exciting as it normally is, but I promise the next one will be great!**

Before I leave, please check out the trailer for this new movie that's coming out this Friday!

Until Next Time my Fellow Marketers.

Hey, Can You Satisfy My Needs?

Hey everyone,
Welcome back!!
                                                                                                  http://renjiveda.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/supply_chain_diagram.jpg
In this blog I will be talking about Supply Chains Management and Marketing Strategy. Before I show examples of different companies and their responsive supply chains, I would like to define the terms.

According to Kerin Supply Chain refers to, "The Various firms involved in performing the activities required to create and deliver a product or service to consumers or industrial users."

Ok. This video breaks it down for you.

Kerin went on to talk about Marketing Strategies. Marketing Strategy is the "means by which a marketing goal is to be achieved, usually characterized by a specified target market and a marketing program to reach it."

Did you know that there are really 7  P's of the Marketing Mix?
Check out this video.

When the two are placed together, there are 3 steps that supply chains follows based on market strategy:

1. Understand the Customer

http://www.activationjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/customer-understanding.jpg
This means that companies should know the needs of their customers, this includes the desire for a low price or convenience of purchase.

2. Understanding the Supply Chain
http://www.sgs.com/en/Our-Company/News-and-Media-Center/News-and-Press-Releases/2014/12/~/media/Global/Images/Structural%20Website%20Images/News%20Images/2014/235x235supplychainmanage.ashx?as=1&w=232

Now, what is this designed to do?
The answer to this question is having companies be intuned with the requirements of its customers in order to deliver the best products or services at the most reasonable rate.

3. Harmonize the supply chain with the marketing strategy
http://marketingplanbook.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/scm-components.jpg

For the third and final step, companies should think about whether or not they are capable to doing well. Not only that, but they must think about the needs of the customers.

Connections? Lets take a look at two companies: Dell and Walmart

Dell
Target Market for Dell? Customers who wants the latest, top of the line computers. They are willing to wait to have their computers customized and pay whatever price necessary to get this done. Now I know that Dell computers may not be as popular as Apple computers, but they were once in high demand.

Walmart

The Marketing Strategy of Walmart is to be reliable, lower-price retailer for a large variety of products. This allows the company to be efficient when it comes to customer satisfaction.
